About Me

Why fireworks?

Aloha everyone! My name is Gabriel Miyashiro. I am 26 years old, born and raised in Hawai’i on the island of O’ahu. Fireworks have always been my passion ever since I was a little kid, and I am proud to say that I have been blessed to be able to turn it into my career.

My dream is to share my talent and passion for designing shows with you through freelance firework designing. I work to create emotional shows that give viewers an experience and will work to bring your vision to life.

When I was around 10 years old, my mom would take my brother and I to the beach for sunset dinners. Just after the sunset, I was surprised by the most amazing three-minute fireworks show I had ever seen. It was loud, bright, beautiful, and it completely mesmerized me. From that moment on, I’ve been obsessed with fireworks displays. I was thrilled to learn that the show happened every week and attending that show became a family affair.

Shortly witnessing my first fireworks show, I discovered a video game that allowed me to create my own fireworks show - Roller Coaster Tycoon. This game allowed users to not only create your own roller coaster park, but also design your own fireworks show. I was hooked.

Being at the Hilton Hawaiian Village each week allowed me to observe the workers, and in my true curious style, I befriended the people who owned the company that put on the fireworks shows each Friday and around our islands. Eventually, I was able to convince the company to let me volunteer with clean-up. I got to see the fireworks up closer than I ever was before and that sparked my joy.

From then on, I went on to do research and discovered other professional fireworks programs such as AfterGlow, ShowDirector, and ShowSim, where I began training on those programs. By the time I turned 18, I began officially working for the local fireworks company and they allowed me to design my first fireworks show for my high school senior project.

Since then, I have grown to be one of the lead designers for the fireworks company and work as a crew member to set up, break down, and fire shows. I have also had the privilege of being a beta tester for the creators of FinaleFireworks, providing feedback on the updated version of their program, Finale 3D.

In my free time, I enjoy designing 3D virtual fireworks shows that are choreographed to music. My goal is to help you create an unforgettable experience for your viewers and to have the fireworks show have the same effect on them as it did me when I was a kid.
